At Hvidovre Hospital, a connection has been created between the rescue mannequins, on which employees practice their first aid skills, and their learning portal in plan2learn. Hidden potential for digitising and greater efficiency<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Hvidovre Hospital has long been using Plan2learn for the development of their employees skills. The system gives managers a comprehensive overview and makes the education process simple for the employees. But a new project has created an innovative connection between practical exercises and the Region's digital learning portal.<\/p>\n

The employees at Hvidovre Hospital have to go through a mandatory CPR course (heart & lung rescue course) as part of their induction course. This skill must be renewed every 2 years, and involves practical exercises on a rescue dummy.<\/p>\n

\"At our hospital, we have made it mandatory for all employees to undergo a CPR course, and this applies to everybody from nurses to the canteen staff. It is essential that everyone knows how to react and how to work together in such a situation,\" <\/em> says Jesper Friis-Hansen, anesthesia nurse and consultant at Hvidovre Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t<\/div> <\/div><\/div><\/div>

Previously, an instructor had to be present to assess whether the employee had passed the course. The instructor then had to manually document it in plan2learn.<\/p>\n

\"Previously, an employee had to enter their personal information before starting the course, and after they had completed the course, the data was passed on to the relevant employees. Then, the administrative employee had to enter that data into the system, and it could take up to 3-6 months before it was registered and displayed on the employee's profile. It created great frustration, as the employee could receive reminders that they needed to take the course, despite the fact that it had already been completed\"<\/em> explains Merete Rosendal, specialist in the department of HR, working environment and education.<\/p>\n

Therefore, the employees agreed to find a better solution, and wrote down a number of requirements that the new system had to meet. Among these was a desire for the skills to be registered in the system as soon as the course was completed.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t<\/div> <\/div><\/div><\/div>

Integrations create flexibility and saves ressources<\/strong><\/h2>\n

After a long collaboration with plan2learn, an integration has now been created between the learning platform and the dolls that the employees use for their training.<\/p>\n

\"We have converted our old attendance courses into e-learning, and it was a lot of work getting all our existing data into the system. But now it just works, and a full integration has been created between plan2learn and our heart rescue dolls\u201d<\/em> describes Jesper Friis-Hansen.<\/p>\n

This means that hospital employees can now take their CPR course exactly when it suits them. An instructor is no longer necessary. The rescue doll automatically talks to plan2learn, and assesses itself when an employee has met the requirements to pass the course. It then updates the employee's skill profile itself, so that the course is now registered as passed.<\/p>\n

More digitisation is planned for the future<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The new integration creates greater freedom for the employees in when and where they want to take their CPR course. Plan2learn also makes sure to notify the employees when their skills need to be refreshed.<\/p>\n

\"A big advantage of the the system is that it always gives us an objective assessment. We can immediately see what skills the individual employee has in a given area. If we are asked whether we possess the skills within a field, we can present a specific percentage of employees who have documentation of this\" <\/em>describes Jesper Friis-Hansen.<\/p>\n

This digitisation has set the employees' minds in motion, because a greater degree of automation could create great value across their training and education.<\/p>\n

\"In the long term, we would like to apply this sort of automation to other equipment. We know the process of setting it up now, and more automation in our training provides greater flexibility for our employees. We are currently looking for workflows where it would make sense. It could be, for example, when moving patients, where porters could be offered the same opportunity for training\"<\/em> ends Jesper Friis-Hansen.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div> \n\t<\/div> <\/div><\/div><\/div>
